It’s never too late to start being fit. Here is a link to an email I received about an 88 year old granny named Endora Quinby who started lifting weights at 78. She holds a positive message for all of us.

Just follow this link: http://www.fitover40.com/powerful_granny.php
and then click on the video. You can skip the rest of the marketing on the website it opens. I just thought the video might be inspiring. It was for me. You’re never too old to get in shape and try something new. Enjoy! And stretch yourself, all ways!

How To Prevent Low Back Spasms

Bent down to tie our shoe laces, leaned over to pick up a pencil, reached across a bed to pull the comforter over, or just gotten up from the couch, and “blam”! That sharp, stabbing sensation in the low back stops us dead in our tracks. Then you’re afraid to move again. You’ve heard: “Lift with your knees”. Well, you weren’t lifting anything! Or: “Train your core muscles”, but you haven’t done an ab crunch in years... too late now!

Well, here’s the secret to prevent low back spasms. Ready? Before you move your torso, for anything, just pull your belly button back toward your spine. That will protect your low back. That’s it! Simple and effective. What will take time though, is training yourself to do it every time you move, and I do mean, every time. You’ll have to think about sucking in the deep belly muscles every time. But after a few weeks, it becomes pretty automatic. It will save you in almost every circumstance.

Next time, I’ll let you in on a simple and effective stretch for the low back, so stay tuned. Here’s to a good month of “tummy tucks”.
